Newly renovated villa in campo with walking distance to Cala Nova beach
The property, Can Caluma, consists of a Main House and a self-contained apartment, casita. In summary, an elegant modern house of 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms (+ guest WC), 2 kitchensnestledin a very private, lush green Mediterranean garden with a large pool, chillout, outdoor bar and BBQ situated extremely close (2 min walk) to one of the best beaches in Ibiza, Cala Nova. The main house has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, guest WC and an open planned living area and kitchen that opens out to the pool, garden and terraces. The casita is one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, kitchen and living area with separate access through the garden and car port.
The main house is attached to what was originally a water tower, used to bring water to irrigate local orchards. The ancient tower gives the property authenticcharacterand this essence was important to retain during the extensive renovations in 2017. The renovation is of a high standard and Can Caluma is a mix of modern, contemporary living with rustic accents and a beach house charm.
Can Caluma is a 2-minute walk to one of Ibiza’s much loved golden sand beaches, Cala Nova.
Kitchen and Salón
The Salón has a large L -shaped sofa, TV with Sonos Playbar and fireplace set into a stone feature wall. The series of Tom Dixon Melt Pendant Globe Lighting above the dining table are a feature in day or night and frame a large oak dining table (seats 12), placed next to floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, which give guests the feeling of being literally in the lush garden whilst enjoying food, wine and company of friends. The sliding doors completely roll back to capture the seabreeze and give true indoor/outdoor living.
The kitchen was fundamental to the renovation. As you enter the open-planned kitchen and living area the only kitchen appliance viewable is the wine fridge, which represents the fun and social manner in which the house is to be enjoyed.
The kitchen is Italian manufactured with Neolith calacatta surfaces, pop-up extractor and induction stove situated on the large island which give the space and a distinctly minimalist feel. The kitchen has a family enclave with table, pendant lighting, large windows and shutters.
The modern kitchen has double doors which open to the pool area and it’s raised level and orientation of the island communicates well to the living and dining area.
Main House
N.B The main house has four bedrooms and the fifth bedroom is located in the Casita.
The entrance to the house is through large double wooden doors and immediate view is of a Moroccan rug leading you past the illuminated white staircase, through the living area towards to garden and pool.
The Master Bedroom is upstairs. It has an ensuite with bath, a Super King size bed, double doors and a Juliette balcony that overlooks the pool, garden and terraces. The room fills with natural light from the doors to the terrace and balcony. Double doors lead to rooftop terraces with sun loungers to sunbath and a large day bed for relaxing.
Guests can access the top of the old tower, a tranquil, peaceful vista with a slight sea view and overlooking a canopy of surrounding pine forest. A great position for star gazing!
The bathroom is large with separate shower and bath. The skylight over the shower welcomes natural light and window over the bath opens into the lush green, almost iconic palms which are adjacent to the pool.
The LuluBedroom, upstairshas a King-size bed with large double window and door to enjoy access to rooftop terraces. The shower room situated is part of the old tower and one of the best rooms in the house. The finish is well-balanced using materials of natural stone pebble flooring, original wood double doors leading to the Juliette balcony, a Sabina beamed ceiling tied together with an extravagant glass chandelier.
The Terrace Bedroom has a large double window with the restored wooden frames and shutters which are characteristic to the house. The window frames the Breakfast Terrace surrounded by the garden of olive trees, lavender, palms and Mediterranean planting. The ensuite is of polished concrete with a Moroccan-tiled shower.
The Entrance Bedroom has two twin sized beds with lots of wardrobe space and a pebble floored bathroom with shower and chunky rustic wooden surfaces.
Casita
The casita is an intimate self-contained apartment of 50 m2 with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and separate access to the main house. The casita isfinished in the style of the main house, with the same natural stone tiles, chunky wood surfaces in the bathroom and polished concrete in the kitchen. The metal etched Moroccan pendants next to the King-Sized bed cast a wonderful light throughout the boudoir.
The façade of the casita is natural stone walls and this theme is continued inside with a feature stone wall in the bathroom. The casita has double his-and-her basins, set on a rustic pine live-edge surface with a large mirror.
Pool, Terraces, Chillout, Bar and Outdoor Kitchen
Between the main house and casita is a terrace with round breakfast table situated underneath a large palm and bougainvillea. The pool terrace has a bespoke Sabinawooden dining table (comfortably seats 12) underneath an all-weather canopy, next to a Chiminea and outdoor seating.
The pool is large and at the far end there is a shaded Chillout area with Super King-sized day bed, perfect for an afternoon siesta. The Chillout also has a bar and outdoor kitchen which includes sink, fridge and built-in Gas BBQ.
The garden is completely private with lush mature palms, ancient Olive Trees and paths winding through drought-resistant Mediterranean planting.
Location/Amenities
Can Caluma isa 2-minute walk to one of the best beaches on the island, Cala Nova. Cala Nova offers stunning natural beauty of pines, ochre cliff tops, white sand, crystal clear water and lots of eating and drinking options including Atzaró Beach Club, three beach shacks,chiringuitos and the Aiyanna which won the Best New Restaurant Award on the island in 2017.
Cala Llenya is another fantastic beach and a short walk from Can Caluma. There is a small supermarket in Cala Llenya, La Joya,and if you require a larger shop then there are supermarkets in Santa Eularia which is 10 minutes away.
Can Caluma is a 5min drive to the town of Sant Carleswhich retains many of the characteristics that Ibiza is famous for. Beautiful terraced farmland and the famous Las Dalias Hippy market which gives the quant town a boho hippy chic feel.
